Mobile Phlebotomist

Job Summary
Mobile Phlebotomist will drive their personal vehicle to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by the dispatcher or Area Phlebotomy Supervisor/Area Lead to collect blood samples following established phlebotomy procedures. Responsibilities include proper patient identification, accurate labeling of specimens with requisitions and billing information, PHI transport compliance, scheduling with patient priority, maintaining neat records, coordinating with dispatch/lab/courier, reporting equipment issues, being available by company device, signaling availability for future assignments, and performing other duties as assigned by the Area Phlebotomy Supervisor. Required licensure (per state), medical terminology proficiency, phlebotomy techniques (venipuncture, tourniquet), specimen handling, valid driver’s license and auto insurance, vehicle access, good driving record, patient-rights awareness, English communication, client/patient/staff relations, multitasking, and professional conduct.
Required Qualifications
- current clinical Licensure, if required by State
- knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes
- Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal and decontamination of the puncture site
- Knowledge of required specimen preservation, adequate patient preparation and specimen procedures
- current and valid Driver’s License and Auto Insurance
- access to a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements
- good driving record
- ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under a variety of patient conditions
- Proficient in written/verbal skills in the English Language
- ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, public and all staff members
- ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- ability to take directions and conduct self in a professional manner
