Job Summary

Own the roadmap and backlog for TEGNA's Mobile Newsroom Platform across iOS and Android, defining vision and prioritizing features that help journalists plan coverage, create content, and leverage AI. Lead agile planning, sprint execution, and stakeholder communication while partnering with editorial leadership, design, engineering, and UX research to validate workflows and measure adoption. Translate complex newsroom operations into intuitive mobile experiences, continuously improving product success through analytics and customer feedback.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of Product Management or Product Owner experience with demonstrated ownership of customer-facing products
  • Experience delivering mobile applications across iOS and Android
  • Strong customer empathy with the ability to translate user needs into actionable product improvements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable collaborating across Product, Design, Engineering, QA, Editorial, and Executive Leadership
  • Data-informed decision maker with experience defining, measuring, and improving product outcomes
  • Proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to negotiate competing priorities while maintaining focus on customer value
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative environments
  • Deep knowledge and proficiency with Atlassian products: Jira, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence
  • Deep knowledge and proficiency with UX/UI tools: Figma
  • Deep knowledge and proficiency with MS 365 Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with analytics platforms (e.g., Amplitude or similar) to measure product adoption, engagement, and feature success
  • Experience partnering with UX researchers and designers to identify customer problems, validate solutions, and continuously improve the user experience
  • Understanding of AI-powered product capabilities and how emerging technologies can improve customer workflows and productivity
  • Experience building or supporting mobile-first products on iOS and Android with a strong understanding of native mobile user experience principles
  • Experience owning workflow-oriented products where speed, usability, reliability, and customer productivity are primary success measures
  • Strong understanding of agile product development practices including backlog management, sprint planning, user story development, and iterative delivery
  • Ability to translate complex operational workflows into intuitive product experiences that reduce friction and improve efficiency
  • Experience working with content management systems, collaboration platforms, media asset management systems (MAM), digital publishing platforms, or creator tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of newsroom operations, editorial workflows, journalism, or media technology is a plus
  • Experience working with content management systems, collaboration platforms, media asset management systems (MAM), digital publishing platforms, or creator tools is highly desirable
