Job Summary
Mobile Operating Engineer performs operations, maintenance, and repair of building mechanical systems across multiple client properties. Travel between assigned facilities to ensure HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems operate efficiently. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining HVAC/refrigeration systems, preventive maintenance on boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps and motors, monitoring building automation and energy management systems, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing problems, responding to emergencies, coordinating with property management and tenants, ensuring compliance with local/state/federal regulations, maintaining logs in computerized maintenance management systems, and coordinating multi-site activities. The role requires a valid driver’s license, safety compliance (including lockout/tagout and PPE), and willingness to work on-call shifts. Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL territory with On-site work at West Palm Beach, FL; compensation range $62,400–$80,000 per year; visa sponsorship not offered; travel between properties is a core aspect of the role.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required with technical training in building systems, HVAC, or related fields strongly preferred
- Valid stationary or universal engineer's license appropriate to the jurisdiction typically required
- Additional certifications such as EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling, boiler operator's license, or electrical certifications often necessary depending on local requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or a related technical field
- Experience with commercial building systems, building automation systems, and computerized maintenance management software is valuable
