Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary

Conduct routine scheduled, interim, and field-level maintenance on Civil Engineering Support Equipment, Material Handling Equipment, and Ground Support Equipment. Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs per OEM guidance and NAVFAC P-300 standards, completing Level A and C maintenance cycles within 120 calendar days or sooner for high-mileage vehicles. Execute safety inspections, fluid changes, tire repairs, welding, and electrical system fixes on government-owned vehicles, recording labor time and service costs in the maintenance database within three days of final inspection. Act as the direct liaison with government personnel regarding access to equipment and maintenance schedules, ensuring all repairs and quality control inspections are completed before returning units to designated holding areas.

Required Qualifications

  • minimum of five (5) years' experience as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) mechanic at automotive dealership, commercial fleet mechanic
  • equivalent military experience
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in diesel engines
  • at least two (2) other Heavy Truck Categories such as, Gas & Diesel Engines; Drive Train; Brakes; Suspension & Steering; Electrical; Heating & A/C and Preventative Maintenance
