Job Summary
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems on a fleet of forklifts, loaders, cranes, and trucks to ensure safe, reliable operation. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication while completing corrective repairs for steering, suspension, brake, and drivetrain failures. Operate diagnostic equipment and CMMS software to document work orders, track parts usage, and monitor equipment hours. Respond to breakdowns across the facility and shop, participate in root cause analysis for recurring failures, and support production teams during equipment downtime. Work between 40 and 58 hours per week, including potential Saturday shifts, in a combination shop and outdoor environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years of heavy equipment, diesel, material handling equipment, or mobile equipment maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read service manuals, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams
- Valid driver's license
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work beneath and around heavy mobile equipment throughout the shift
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Safely operate diagnostic equipment, lifting devices, and maintenance tools
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and indoors in shop environments
- Perform repairs in confined spaces and elevated work areas
- Required use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, FR clothing, and safety footwear
- Must be able to comply with Lockout/Tagout procedures when applicable
- Must be able to follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Must be able to perform equipment safely during maintenance and testing
- Must be able to identify and report unsafe conditions
- Must be able to participate in required safety meetings and training
- Must be able to promote safe operation of all mobile equipment
- Must be able to complete scheduled preventative maintenance on all assigned mobile equipment
- Must be able to complete oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, inspections, and scheduled servicing
- Must be able to monitor equipment hours and preventative maintenance intervals
- Must be able to recommend preventative maintenance improvements
- Must be able to maintain manufacturer-recommended service schedules
- Must be able to diagnose and repair mechanical failures
- Must be able to repair hydraulic systems
- Must be able to repair steering and suspension systems
- Must be able to repair brake systems
- Must be able to repair diesel, propane, gasoline, and electric-powered equipment
- Must be able to repair cooling systems

- Must be able to maintain service history
- Must be able to track equipment condition and repair recommendations

- Must be able to assist with parts sourcing
- Must be able to verify correct replacement parts
- Must be able to coordinate with the Storeroom Support Associate or Purchasing regarding parts availability
- Must be able to maintain commonly used service parts
- Must be able to perform field repairs throughout the facility
- Must be able to respond to equipment breakdowns
- Must be able to assist Production departments during equipment failures
- Must be able to test equipment following repairs
- Must be able to return equipment to safe operating condition
- Must be able to support Franklin Industries' housekeeping and 3S initiatives
- Must be able to maintain clean service vehicles and work areas
- Must be able to properly store tools and diagnostic equipment
- Must be able to dispose of waste fluids and materials in accordance with company procedures
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Equipment Maintenance Manager, Yard Leadership, Maintenance Department, Production Leadership, Operators, and Storeroom Support Associate
- Must be able to communicate equipment status, repair progress, and parts needs promptly
- Must be able to support teamwork across all operating departments
- Must be able to participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- Must be able to recommend improvements to fleet maintenance practices
- Must be able to support implementation of approved improvements
- Must be able to identify opportunities to improve fleet availability and reduce maintenance costs
- Must be able to participate in emergency repairs
- Must be able to assist with special projects
- Must be able to perform other duties as assigned
- Must be able to demonstrate competency performing preventative and corrective maintenance on Franklin Industries' mobile equipment fleet
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency diagnosing hydraulic, diesel, fuel, electrical, steering, suspension, and drivetrain systems
- Must be able to demonstrate competency using computerized diagnostic equipment and maintaining accurate CMMS documentation
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding of Franklin Industries' fleet reliability philosophy and the relationship between mobile equipment availability and production performance
- Must be able to demonstrate competency safely returning repaired equipment to service
- Must be able to perform assigned duties independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work between 40 and 58 hours per week
- Must be able to work 5/6 AM until 3/4 PM, Monday-Friday
- Must be able to work 5/6 AM until Noon/2PM on Saturdays (when needed)
- Must pass a physical (vitals, vision, and hearing)
- Must pass a drug screen
