Job Summary

Perform onsite DOT inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers, responding to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled checks. Use diagnostic tools like tread depth and brake stroke gauges to assess vehicle condition against federal standards, then clearly document findings and flag out-of-service items. Take ownership of a company-provided service vehicle, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections while performing necessary maintenance. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, meeting industry-standard inspection times while handling chemicals and heavy equipment safely. Requires diesel or automotive technical training, familiarity with DOT standards, and a valid driver's license.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 23+
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Diesel, automotive, or heavy-duty vehicle technical training (technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience) preferred
  • Familiarity with DOT inspection standards and out-of-service criteria, or willingness to learn
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable using mobile apps, navigation systems and digital tools to stay organized and document repairs
  • Ready for the outdoors – rain or shine at customer yards
  • Independent, dependable, and self-motivated
  • A positive attitude and safety-first mindset
