Job Summary
Mobile Diesel Technician II responsible for DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light to heavy-duty truck repairs in a mobile/field environment. Performs diagnostics and repairs on electrical, braking, cooling, engine, transmission, and hydraulic systems; conducts road tests; manages parts inventory on a company truck; documents findings via Repair Orders using an iOS-based TRAIT app; completes DOT forms; adheres to OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations; must hold or obtain ASE T8 (PMI) within 18 months and possess a valid driver’s license with DOT medical card. Requires high school diploma or GED, 3 years’ related experience (or equivalent), strong communication skills, ability to lift heavy objects, and willingness to travel interstate. Role supports remote work within designated Rochester, NY area with full-time schedule; compensation includes hourly base pay plus potential incentives/commissions; stringent safety and regulatory compliance expected.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 years’ related field experience OR equivalent combination of education/experience
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months
- DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain DOT medical card
- Ability to pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; ability for moderately heavy labor
- Own set of hand tools
- Potential requirement for ASE Drivetrain (T3), Brakes (T4), Suspension (T5), Electrical/Electronic Systems (T6), HVAC (T7), ASE 608/609 (if applicable)
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and teams
- Interstate travel capability
- Understanding of safety and environmental policies
