Job Summary
Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. Diagnose and adjust malfunctions in electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems using handheld computers and test instruments, then road test vehicles to verify proper operation. Independently manage parts inventory, maintain company-issued service trucks, and document all findings, parts used, and work performed via the TRAIT application on an iOS device. Communicate with clients to assess needs and resolve issues while managing concurrent tasks and adhering to DOT regulations and safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 years' experience in a related field
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months
- Successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening
- Pass a DOT physical prior to employment
- Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration
- Be at least 21 years or older
- Hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license
- Be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work
- Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
- Communicates information in a succinct and organized manner
- Engages in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups
- Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed
- Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Valid driver's license

- Any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline
- ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification
- ASE T4 (Brakes) certification
- ASE T5 (Suspension) certification
- ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification
- ASE T7 (HVAC) certification
- ASE 608/609 certification
