Job Summary

Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. Diagnose malfunctions using test instruments and road test vehicles to ensure proper operation, while independently managing parts inventory and equipment on the service truck. Document all findings, parts used, and repairs on Repair Orders via the TRAIT application and accurately complete DOT forms. Obtain parts from approved vendors, communicate with management for estimate approvals, and maintain the service vehicle through daily safety checks. Work with a high degree of independence to manage your own daily schedule and prioritize tasks within standard repair times.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years' experience in a related field
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI)
  • Successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration
  • At least 21 years or older
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work
  • Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
  • Ability to communicate information in a succinct and organized manner
  • Ability to engage in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups
  • Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed
  • Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Must be able to work in a mobile/field environment
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Must be able to work afternoons
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

  • Any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline
  • 5 years' experience in a related field
  • ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification
  • ASE T4 (Brakes) certification
  • ASE T5 (Suspension) certification
  • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification
  • ASE T7 (HVAC) certification
  • ASE 608/609 certification
