Mobile Building Engineer

Job Summary

Conduct routine assessments and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for assigned properties. Execute daily rounds, including inspecting heating equipment, chillers, pumps, and cooling towers, while performing general repairs to fixtures, doors, and floors. Monitor energy management systems, adjust control gauges, and ensure free access to emergency exits and life safety equipment. Respond immediately to emergency situations such as equipment failures or fires, and document all activities for supervisor review. Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with C&W standards and local codes.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma of GED Equivalent
  • 5+ years of related work experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting
  • Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses, such as Refrigeration Certificate of Fitness, High Pressure Boiler License, High Pressure Steam Operator, etc.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks (where applicable)
  • Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices
  • Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions
  • Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you
  • Must be able to read and understand information presented orally and in writing
  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, drawings, and schematics
  • Must be able to comply with C&W Uniform Dress Code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property at times other than working hours
  • Must be able to respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns
  • Must be able to complete all required C&W Safety Training as scheduled annually
  • Must be able to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments)
  • Must be able to work shift work and/or on call duties

Desired Qualifications

  • Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred
  • May be required to have certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's depending on market licensure requirements
  • Experience in operation, maintenance and basic repair of HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques and operations
  • Thorough knowledge in all building systems operations, maintenance and repair
