MO: Toddler Room Assistant (age 18 months-3 years), 7.5 hrs/day

Job Summary

Assist students in a traditional toddler classroom setting with all aspects of attending school, including providing diapering, toileting, and educational or recreational activities both indoor and outdoor. Develop positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and community members while maintaining discipline and enforcing safety standards. Carry out classroom record maintenance for attendance, behavior documentation, and lunch counts, and administer children's medication and First Aid as needed. Participate in planning meetings and professional development activities, ensuring consistent attendance and adherence to MiLEAP Child Care Licensing requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • 18+ years of age
  • Prior experience working/interacting with infants and toddlers
  • Current first Aid and infant, child, or adult CPR training
  • Willingness to obtain CPR training at the next available offering
  • Willingness to complete up to 20 clock hours of professional development training
  • Ability to report on a regular and consistent basis
  • Consistent and punctual attendance
  • Ability to move about the classroom/building and school property
  • Ability to sit on the floor
  • Ability to bend
  • Ability to push/pull
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to twist
  • Ability to climb
  • Ability to stoop
  • Ability to crouch
  • Ability to listen and effectively orally communicate information and ideas to a diverse population
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with children, parents, colleagues, administrative staff, and community members
  • Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s)
  • Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently
  • Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the district's school year calendar
  • Availability for irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for school events or professional development activities
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check

Desired Qualifications

  • Some Early Childhood or Child Development college coursework
