Job Summary
Develop positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and community members through written communication and verbal interactions. Support the Montessori program by planning curriculum, assessing progress, and conducting parent conferences. Supervise assistant teachers, service providers, and volunteers while enforcing safety standards and behavior management techniques. Provide direct care including diapering, toileting, and administering medication, plus maintain a clean facility and playground. Participate in IEPs, staff development activities, and district meetings as requested. Maintain confidentiality of records and complete necessary state and district documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age per MiLEAP Child Care Licensing regulations
- Meets state licensing requirements for Early Childhood Center Program Administrator as defined by MiLEAP Child Care Licensing regulations
- Demonstrated experience in child development and/or previous childcare experience
- Must have current First Aid and infant, child, and adult CPR training
- Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance
- Must have the ability to move about the classroom/building and school property, including sitting on the floor, bending, pushing/pulling, lifting, twisting, climbing, stooping, or crouching to complete work-related tasks with and without students
- The ability to listen and effectively orally communicate information and ideas to a diverse population
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with children, parents, colleagues, administrative staff and community members
- Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s)
- Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently
- Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the district's school year calendar
- May require irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for school events or professional development activities
- The individual selected for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
Desired Qualifications
- Valid Montessori Credential Or willingness to complete a valid Montessori Credential program is preferred
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a child related field preferred - equivalent MiLEAP Child Care Licensing Program Administrator Credentials considered upon district discretion
- Willingness to obtain 3 semester hours, 4.5 CEUs or 45 hours of MiRegistry approved infant and toddler development and care practices within 6 months of hire
- Willing to complete up to 16.0 clock hours of professional development training per calendar year (January 1 through December 31), in addition to new hire requirements as required by MiLEAP Child Care Licensing regulations
