Job Summary
Perform laboratory tests and associated support work as directed by the Laboratory Manager and Supervisor. Cooperate and communicate professionally with medical, nursing, and hospital personnel while using technical knowledge to make sound clinical decisions and troubleshoot instruments. Maintain all laboratory equipment and operate equipment safely and correctly, providing age-specific and culturally oriented patient care. Prioritize workload independently, organize tasks, and follow oral and written instructions with initiative and accuracy. This Full-Time 3rd Shift position (8p–6:30a) includes a weekend rotation and reports to the Laboratory Department Manager. Candidates must hold an Associate or Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology or a related science field, with certification as an MLT, CLS, or MT.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree from an approved school of medical laboratory technology
- Bachelor's Degree from an approved school of medical technology or a BS in chemical, physical, or biological science
- Certified as a MT, CLS, or MLT from a national certifying agency (ASCP, AMT, etc.)
- Candidates eligible for Certification must attempt BOC exam a minimum of 2 times per year and provide evidence of attempts
- CEU's for those accredited after 2004
- Works cooperatively and communicates effectively
- Follows oral and written instructions
- Initiative, accuracy, and judgment needed to determine the needs of the Laboratory
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions based on patient condition and lab results
- Computer skills and ability to type
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and work independently
- Excellent customer service
- Associate Degree with related experience
- MLT or MLS Certification
- 3rd Shift, 8p - 6:30a (Four 10-hour shifts) with a weekend rotation
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP or equivalent preferred
