Job Summary
Perform routine waived, moderately complex, and high complexity testing in the clinical laboratory. Collect, process, and receive specimens (blood, urine, fecal, body fluids) for analysis across departments; evaluate and troubleshoot collection/processing issues; prepare samples for testing and arrange send-out to reference laboratories. Maintain laboratory equipment and stock supplies; analyze quality control data and take appropriate action under CLIA requirements; assist in troubleshooting and instrument maintenance. Participate in training programs and contribute to patient care quality within Southern Illinois Healthcare facilities. This role is based at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and supports phlebotomy-related program activities as part of the SIH workforce.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in applied science in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Eligible to sit for MLT (ASCP) or equivalent
