Job Summary
Conduct clinical laboratory testing, record data, and release results under the direct supervision of a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist. Perform assigned assays, pipette samples and reagents using calibrated devices, and execute preventative maintenance on equipment while documenting logs and troubleshooting simple problems. Ensure all manual entries for quality control and patient data are reviewed by a qualified scientist prior to result release. Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety requirements for CLIA, CAP, and ICH GCP compliance. Complete didactic coursework and clinical rotations in clinical chemistry, hematology, and microbiology to prepare for national certification.
Required Qualifications
- Must be accepted into the Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science
- Completion of all college/university requirements for graduation with a baccalaureate
- Individuals with grade point averages of between 2.50-2.75 may apply for admission and will be considered on an individual basis
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts

Desired Qualifications
- Science/math and overall cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
- 16 credit hours of Chemistry (including Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry)
- 16 credit hours of Biology (including Microbiology with Lab)
- 2 years' experience with Genetics or Molecular Biology
- 2 years' experience with Anatomy/Physiology
- 2 years' experience with Immunology
- 2 years' experience with Statistics
