Job Summary
Collect and prepare biological specimens for analyses, ensuring integrity and adherence to established guidelines. Perform routine laboratory tests with varying complexity, evaluating specimen suitability and reporting results accurately to physicians. Maintain equipment calibration, organize department workload for efficiency, and investigate issues affecting collection or turnaround time. Instruct new staff and students while demonstrating commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. This role supports Monument Health's vision of compassionate, inclusive care within the Gillette Laboratory team.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Associates degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science
- high school graduate or equivalent
- successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration
- held the military enlisted occupation specialty of medical laboratory specialist (laboratory technician)
- Medical Lab Technician (MLT) certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technology (AMT), or Military Laboratory Specialist
- 1+ years of Laboratory Experience
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in chemical, physical, or biologic Sciences or Clinical Laboratory Science
- Medical Technologist (MT) certification
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)/American Medical Technology (AMT) or Health and Human Services (HEW) certification
