Job Summary
Collect and prepare biological specimens for analysis, ensuring integrity and adherence to established guidelines. Perform routine laboratory tests with varying complexity, evaluate results, and report findings to physicians in a timely manner. Manage department workload for efficiency, conduct quality assurance, proficiency testing, and equipment calibration. Direct phone inquiries, supervise new caregivers, and demonstrate willingness to instruct staff and students.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Associates degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science
- high school graduate or equivalent
- successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration
- held the military enlisted occupation specialty of medical laboratory specialist (laboratory technician)
- Medical Lab Technician (MLT) certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technology (AMT), or Military Laboratory Specialist
- 1+ years of Laboratory Experience
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in chemical, physical, or biologic Sciences or Clinical Laboratory Science
- Medical Technologist (MT) certification
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification
- ASCP/AMT or Health and Human Services (HEW) certification
