Job Summary
Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical laboratory testing phases while following standard operating procedures. Collect and process lab specimens, including blood and other fluids, using both manual and automated methods. Ensure laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met by recognizing hazards and complying with all protocols. Serve as a laboratory resource to other healthcare personnel and collaborate with departments across the enterprise. Work as an on-call, as-needed Medical Laboratory Scientist in a community-owned, membership-based non-profit organization.
Required Qualifications
- bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences or an associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent
- national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years' healthcare experience in any field
- 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in a generalist role across multiple disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.)
- 2+ years' experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic or similar)
