Job Summary

Manage the order, cleanliness, and safety of the MK Beach and lawn area by inspecting daily, reporting hazards, and maintaining proper equipment supplies. Greet guests warmly, set up and break down chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas, and issue amenities while informing visitors of the Ocean Awareness Program. Expedite POS transactions, handle cash per hotel standards, and assist USLA-certified lifeguards during emergencies. Perform cultural activities for the Keiki Club, enforce safety rules, and transport towels between the beach, loading dock, and shack. Work outdoors in various weather conditions until sunset, with flexible shifts extending beyond 40 hours as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • First Aid/CPR Certified/AED Certified
  • Health Department TB Clearance if serving food and beverage items
  • DHS licensing for Kids Programs to include fingerprinting, HS Diploma, references, and employment history
  • Must be pleasant, smiling and friendly to all guests
  • Must be able to work shifts and days determined by the manager, daytime hours until sunset or later for special events
  • Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week if needed due to business or available staffing
  • Must be able to work in the sun and outdoors for most of shift
  • Must be able to enter the ocean or pool in rescue situations using AED, First Aid, First Responder training
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations
  • Must be a strong swimmer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs – the equivalent of 5 umbrellas at once
  • Must be able to walk in sand carrying and pulling chairs to assist attendants
  • Must be able to carry and anchor umbrellas in sand to assist attendants
  • Must be able to push/pull laundry carts with towels weighing 50lb or more
  • Must be able to stand and walk while on duty
  • Must be able to verbally communicate the Ocean Awareness Program and other information to guests
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with appropriate resort employees and rescue personnel in emergencies over the phone, radio, and in person
  • Must know all safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Must be able to perform duties of a certified Keiki Club Host
