Job Summary
Operate and tend machines to mix or blend a wide variety of food products such as edible oils, dressings, margarines, and spreads. Monitor and regulate gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, and thermometers to correctly adjust raw material addition and mixing parameters. Read batch cards to determine product specifications, record production and test data, and examine in-process samples for quality assurance. Patrol the work area to detect leaks and equipment malfunctions, report deficiencies to supervisors, and clean and sanitize all necessary equipment. Modify manufacturing directives with written authorization by adjusting mixing cycles or ingredient additions. This role requires standing, lifting up to 75 pounds, and working in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to loud noises, dust, heat, and oil. Personal protective equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes is required. A high school diploma and forklift certification are necessary; experience in process blends is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- High school Diploma
- Ability to be self-guided and motivated to operate independently
- 1-3 months of experience in process blends or similar field
- Strong multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to do simple math, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to speak and write English
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats
- Must be able to pass a forklift safety and operations training certification written and practical tests
- Knowledge of product knowledge
- Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, color vision and peripheral vision
- Earplugs / ear protection required
- Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, appropriate clothing) is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating in a fast paced, ready-to-eat food facility a plus
- Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
