Job Summary
Mission Systems Engineer role focused on sustaining and introducing new capabilities for service to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Responsibilities include developing and maintaining mission system software baselines, building software images, testing applications and interfaces, applying security controls and patches, coordinating Security Accreditation within the Defence ICT Cyber-Security Accreditation Framework, designing and supporting technical solutions, maintaining documentation, and mentoring junior engineers. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, experience with IT infrastructure (Windows/Linux/Active Directory), and Defence cyber-security accreditation experience. Candidate should be willing to travel locally. Hybrid work arrangement with minimum in-office commitment (1 day per week, with potential shift). Opportunities available as Full-time or Part-time (minimum 4 days). Applicants encouraged to apply; ITAR considerations may apply.
Required Qualifications
- Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems, Telecommunication/Network, or Mechatronics/Robotics engineering
- Experience with Windows, Linux, and Active Directory
- Experience implementing ICT security controls and settings
- Experience deploying and managing software applications onto hardware systems (defence context)
- Experience with Defence ICT Cyber-Security Accreditation
- Understanding of Systems Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support
- Experience developing engineering artefacts (Deviations, Problem Reports, Engineering Change Proposals)
- Knowledge of risk and hazard identification/management within Cyber-Security regulatory frameworks
