Job Summary
This DOT‐classified role under IBEW Local 1245 involves operating, maintaining, and driving utility equipment (line trucks, bucket trucks, cranes) for installation, maintenance, and reconstruction of electric facilities. Work is outdoors in all weather; the technician must travel across the PG&E service territory and may transfer to a new headquarters. The position requires operating diverse heavy equipment (Dozer smaller than D-4, rough terrain crane, loader, swing crane, Hydrauger/equipment, trenching machinery, boom trucks, and related devices), perform setting/removal of poles near energized primary lines, and assist the crew in underground and overhead electric line construction operations. Candidates must have a High School diploma or GED, be at least 18, hold a valid Class A California Driver's License and DMV Medical Card by Day 1, be able to work extended hours and travel as needed, and be capable of lifting up to 100 pounds and wearing PPE. The role is full-time, onsite in Sacramento and falls under a long-standing collective bargaining agreement with PG&E. Requirements also include the ability to read gauges and load charts, and relevant construction experience or certifications are listed as desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class A California Driver's License
- Must possess and maintain a valid DMV Medical Card by Day 1 of hire
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarter upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home.
- Must be able to lift heavy loads of up to 100 pounds, utilizing ergonomic principles at least one time a day
- Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
