Job Summary
Supervise the day-to-day operation of a 10-30 bed mental illness residential program, including direct client care, administrative oversight, and staff supervision. Serve as the primary liaison between the home, community mental health centers, and other social service agencies. Manage case records, clinical documentation, and property maintenance while ensuring vehicle compliance with agency policies. Perform special projects and assignments as directed by the Director of Mental Illness Residential Program. Requires a Bachelor's degree in social services, five years of experience with the mentally ill population, and two years of supervisory experience. Valid Alabama driver's license and suitable automobile with appropriate insurance are mandatory. On-call availability may be required based on client needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in social services or related curriculum
- Five years experience working with the mentally ill population
- at least 2 years supervisory experience
- Valid Alabama driver's license
- driving record acceptable to agency automobile insurance carrier
- Suitable automobile to permit the required travel
- car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage
- Knowledge of sound mental health practices and procedures
- Knowledge of mental illness and handicaps and their social and vocational implications
- Knowledge of community resources
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
- Ability to evaluate problem situations of client care and treatment and build rapport with them
- Knowledge of employment practices and the skills, abilities and mental and physical demands of occupations
