Job Summary
Design, plan, and govern paste fill and cemented backfill systems for safe, efficient underground mining in Leonora, WA. Responsibilities include developing and managing paste fill and backfill plans, monitoring and optimizing paste plant and backfill system performance, ensuring designs meet geotechnical standards, coordinating backfill schedules with mining and operations teams, and contributing to medium/long-term mine planning and process improvements. Opportunities to expand skills in ventilation and planning, with a permanent role on an 8/6 roster that may involve FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Kalgoorlie or residential in Leonora. Qualifications include a degree in mining or related discipline and substantial underground mining/backfill experience; strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder-engagement abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Degree qualified Mining Engineer or related discipline
- Sound demonstrated experience in underground mining with direct exposure to paste fill or backfill operations
- Demonstrated experience in paste fill design, scheduling, and operational support
- Strong understanding of underground stoping methods and backfill requirements
- Experience optimising paste plant performance, binder consumption, and fill quality outcomes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills
