Job Summary
Operate industrial equipment to produce drill, blast, cut, and haul salt safely in an underground environment. Perform work area and equipment inspections, scaling activities, and general housekeeping while handling blasting materials. Drive service vehicles, 60 ton dump trucks, powder rigs, face drills, floor drills, and personnel carriers. Follow company policies and site procedures, including safety rules and operating manuals. Work rotating shifts with long hours, lifting up to 50 lbs and navigating uneven ground in humid, dusty conditions. Obtain a blasting license through State Police.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must be able to obtain a blasting license through State Police
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must be able to physically access all areas of underground mine
- Must be able to wear hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, safety cap and lamp, respirator, electrical arc flash
- Must be able to work in high reach areas
- Must be able to work shift rotation
- Must be able to wear full body harness when applicable
- Must be able to walk on uneven ground
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion
