Job Summary
Lead and manage safe, efficient operation of all mine-related activities for a 380+ person team at a medium-sized Open Pit Mine, delivering production targets within cost and operational constraints. Provide balanced strategic leadership across mining operations, equipment maintenance, budgeting, and cost controls while developing continuous improvement systems. Maintain unwavering focus on safety and environmental stewardship by setting examples, inspiring the workforce, and conducting daily field inspections. Develop annual financial operating and capital budgets, liaise with corporate leadership, and hold staff accountable to Marigold guidelines. Establish positive relationships with all stakeholders and drive alignment through 12 to 18 months of strategic planning.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Mining Engineering or equivalent related degree
- 10+ years of experience in the mining industry
- proven experience leading safe operations in an Open Pit environment
- 5+ years of overall progressive supervision experience
- Relevant experience in open pit operations
- Prior experience in effective change management techniques and application
- Relevant experience leading programs for monitoring compliance, action planning, and verification of controls
- Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and learn mining literature, technical data and manuals
- Excellent people skills in the areas of coaching and mentoring
- data organization and evaluation skills
- Decisive with the ability to influence direction and manage organizational change
- Presentation, interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to all organizational levels
