Job Summary
Conduct construction, maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of overhead and underground electric distribution systems up to 27.6 kV. Perform live line work, erect poles, build underground cables, and install conductors while ensuring safe and efficient task completion. Respond to emergency calls within 45 minutes for on-call duties, restore power during outages, and perform line clearing. Mentor apprentices, participate in safety meetings, and track job hours for compliance logs. Work within the Ontario Utility Work Protection Code and interpret technical prints and diagrams.
Required Qualifications
- The MEARIE Group Journeyperson Power Line Technician Certificate or recognized equivalent
- The Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities Power Line Technician Certificate (or equivalent)
- Full certification in the Ontario Utility Work Protection Code (or willing and able to acquire within six months and maintain)
- Working knowledge of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and industry safe work practices
- Proficient in the use of all tools and equipment associated with the trade
- Valid Driver's licence in good standings; Class DZ required, Class ARZ preferred
- Able to work from work orders, specifications, standards and instructions and to interpret prints, sketches and diagrams
- Strong communicator, excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
- A level of physical fitness essential to do the work including the ability to climb and work confidently at heights
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
