Job Summary
Install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, rigging plans, blueprints, or other drawings. Examine objects, systems, or facilities to determine needed installations, services, or repairs. Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails. Construct foundations for machines by inserting shims, adjusting tension on nuts and bolts, or positioning parts. Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs. Assemble machines by bolting, welding, or riveting them to foundations or other structures. Use various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders. Operate Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Boom Lifts. Perform cross-training in pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, and civil trades as needed to meet customer requests.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two to four years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to regularly stand
- Ability to frequently walk
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to talk or hear
