Job Summary
Examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs. Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures, then dismantle, assemble, and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails according to layout plans, rigging plans, or drawings. Move machinery and heavy equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, airbags, and forklifts. Construct machine foundations, insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, and align machines using hand tools, measuring instruments, and jacks. Utilize various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders, while maintaining proficiency in additional crafts like pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, and civil work to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two to four years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to regularly stand
- Ability to frequently walk
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally sit
- Ability to climb or balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

- Ability to align machines and equipment using hoist, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
- Ability to assemble machines
- Ability to bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten machines to foundation or other structures
- Ability to use various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders
- Ability to operate Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Boom Lifts
- Additional skills in other crafts (millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, mechanical, rigging)
