Job Summary
Install, transfer, dismantle, and repair machinery across factories, mine sites, and industrial locations by building machine foundations, constructing shafting and conveyors, and grinding parts. Review engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures, selecting appropriate hand tools, measuring devices, welding, and brazing equipment for each job. Conduct daily workplace exams to identify and resolve hazards, immediately barricading areas or contacting safety teams when necessary. Travel independently to customer job sites throughout the Chesapeake region, including extended stays during peak winter seasons, while adhering to all NAMS policies and OSHA/MSHA safety regulations. Stop imminent danger situations promptly and report accidents, near misses, and minor damages prior to shift end.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or certification in a skilled trade
- 3 years' relevant experience in an industrial or construction setting
- Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others
- Ability to communicate effectively including interpersonal skills
- must be a team player
- Aptitude in math
- Attention to detail
- Strong decision making and problem-solving
- Good physical condition and stamina
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
- Owns minimum personal tools required for essential tasks
- Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to travel independently to customer job sites located throughout the Chesapeake Region
- Routine work away from home for extended periods, usually for a week or two (typically during peak winter season)
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of accredited millwright certification program a plus
- Rigging, welding, and MSHA experience a plus (Stick, TIG, Sanitary Pipe)
