Job Summary

Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities based on priority and personnel skill levels. Monitor employee performance, tool inventories, and job site conditions to ensure adequate working conditions. Examine systems to determine needed installations, services, or repairs, then read blueprints and schematic drawings to define work procedures. Dismantle, assemble, and install machinery, construct foundations, align equipment, and repair or lubricate machines using various hand, power, and welding tools. Move heavy equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, airbags, and forklifts. Oversee daily work assignments for a crew of one to 12 employees, providing mentoring, arranging on-the-job training, and reporting performance and safety concerns to office supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Four to five years related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to regularly stand
  • Ability to frequently walk

  • Ability to insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts
  • Ability to align machines and equipment using hoist, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
  • Ability to assemble machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures
  • Ability to repair and lubricate machines and equipment
  • Ability to use various hand tools, power tools, torches, and welders
  • Ability to operate Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Boom Lifts
  • Additional skills in other crafts
  • Ability to determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities
  • Ability to monitor employees' work levels and review work performance
  • Ability to monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of job site
  • Ability to examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs
  • Ability to report accidents, near misses, and injuries to office supervision
  • Ability to actively cooperate with investigations
  • Ability to compile operational and personnel data
  • Ability to report to office supervision concerns with employees' work-related issues
  • Ability to provide mentoring to employees to correct job-skill deficiencies
  • Ability to conduct on the job training or arrange for worker training in safety or equipment use
  • Ability to oversee the daily work assignments of a crew of one to 12 employees
  • Ability to report out to office supervision the performance of the crew
