Job Summary

Perform diagnostic and preventive maintenance on bearings, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and turbines at the Blue Point Complex. Install, troubleshoot, service, and replace rotating equipment while executing shaft and laser alignment tasks using dial indicators and Rotalign technology. Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, order replacement parts, and perform repairs in compliance with manufacturer specifications and internal controls. Execute safe rigging and lifting operations, including climbing ladders, stairs, and working from man lifts or baskets. Complete assigned work proficiently, demonstrating competency in troubleshooting and maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards within a chemical manufacturing facility. Weekend work, call-out, and overtime are required.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of industry related experience
  • Ability to maintain health, safety, and environmental standards as a personal performance core value
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability
  • Physical capability, availability, willingness, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Good interpersonal and influential skills
  • Willingness to work overtime and be on call
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Willingness to travel for training
  • Effective organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Self-motivation in advancing to the highest level possible
  • Ability to perform diagnostic and preventive maintenance tasks on bearings, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and turbines
  • Demonstrate competency in diagnostic and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to perform shaft alignment using dial indicators
  • Ability to perform Laser Alignment (Rotalign)
  • Ability to complete assigned work in a safe and proficient manner
  • Ability to inspect, identify, change out, and repair pieces of equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and turbines
  • Ability to perform visual inspections, diagnose equipment problems, and take necessary steps to perform repairs
  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals, order replacement parts, and apply manufacturer's equipment specifications
  • Ability to perform safe rigging and lifting tasks
  • Ability to work involves climbing ladders, stairs and use of safety harnesses
  • Ability to work out of man lifts or man baskets
  • Ability to understand and comply with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts
  • Ability to identify and bring to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies
  • Ability to utilize all necessary measures and best practices to safely and responsibly repair and maintain rotating equipment in a chemical manufacturing facility
  • Willingness to work weekend work
  • Willingness to work call-out
  • Willingness to work overtime

  • Academic degrees, certifications and licenses (i.e. Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, etc.)
  • Chemical or manufacturing plant technical knowledge and/or related work experience
