Job Summary
Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and lighting circuits. Diagnose trouble by examining machinery, isolating defects in wiring and motors using testing instruments, and perform repairs, replacements, and minor welding. Develop experimental equipment, clean and lubricate functional parts, and operate production and service equipment while performing carpenter, plumbing, and painter tasks. Perform plant shutdowns and startups, requisition parts using OEM manuals, and maintain a clean work area throughout the 12-hour rotating shift. Requires an Industrial Millwright license with a 442A designation and previous related experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or G.E.D.
- Industrial Millwright license with a 442A designation
- Mechanical & electrical aptitude questionnaire
- Previous related experience
- Basic mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit numbers including fractions
- Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of both Canadian and American weight, measurement, and volume
- High degree of knowledge of equipment and aptitude for understanding mechanical systems through formal training and/or education
- Ability to perform repairs (including minor electrical)
- Ability to use and/or make special attachments when necessary
- Certification in fall arrest
- Certification in the operation of a scissor lift
- Training in lock out/tag procedures
- Training in arc flash safety procedures
- Ability to express through verbal or visual aid
- Ability to write numbers and time in clear, understandable messages
- Ability to read, write & understand basic English
- Ability to communicate effectively, get along with coworkers & management and deal effectively & professionally
- Ability to make decisions based on established guidelines regarding running or shutting down on defective work and operational problems/difficulties of all kinds
- Ability to plan repair procedures for most efficient accomplishment of job at hand
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed and simple written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to use high degree of ingenuity in solving all types of maintenance problems
- Up to 12-hour/day shift schedule
- Ability to stand & walk continually
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to perform assisted lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to push/pull up to 40 pounds frequently
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel & reach frequently
