Milieu Counselor / Nursing Assistant Float - Adult and Geriatric Psych - E/OWeekend

Job Summary
Conduct daily patient care on the 22-bed Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit by assisting with activities of daily living, leading group sessions, and performing safety checks. Monitor and document vital signs, intake and output, and nutritional needs while communicating changes to the nursing team. Facilitate one-on-one meetings with patients in crisis and maintain a safe, structured unit milieu under Registered Nurse supervision. Requires full nursing orientation, BLS certification, and experience with geriatric or adult psych populations. Shifts include every other weekend nights from 11pm to 7:30 am for 16 hours weekly.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Must be able to successfully complete a job specific physical agility test
- Must be available for Nights, 11pm to 7:30 am shifts
- Must be available for Every other Saturday and Sunday shifts
- Must be available for 16 hours/wk.
- Must be available for every other weekend
- Must be able to provide a full nursing orientation
- Must be able to attend orientation Mon through Tue
- Must be able to attend orientation for 7 business days
- Must be able to attend orientation during the day
- Must be able to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to provide a safe and structured unit milieu
- Must be able to attend to the individual needs of patients in crisis
- Must be able to assist with ADL's
- Must be able to lead or co-lead groups
- Must be able to perform safety checks
- Must be able to conduct 1:1 meetings with patients
- Must be able to chart patients B/P, TPR & weight
- Must be able to help maintain patients' nutritional and hydration needs
- Must be able to communicate with nurses of any changes in vital signs
- Must be able to accurately measure and document patients' intake and output
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year previous inpatient clinical mental health experience in a behavioral health unit
- Experience with geriatric and adult psych
