Job Summary
Lead end-to-end migration projects converting SQL Server schemas, stored procedures, and functions to PostgreSQL, while analyzing and optimizing T-SQL code for cross-platform compatibility. Develop automation scripts and utilities to streamline migration processes, document architecture and lessons learned, and mentor junior staff on performance tuning and internal query logic. Execute schema and data mapping between systems, resolve cross-platform issues, and audit compliance using SQL Server tools before deployment. Requires 10+ years of SQL Server expertise, deep T-SQL internals knowledge, and advanced JIRA/ITSM workflow proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years' experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
- Expert-level T-SQL knowledge
- Deep understanding of T-SQL internals
- Deep understanding of SQL Server internals
- Proven experience performing schema and data mapping between SQL Server and PostgreSQL
- Deep understanding of T-SQL procedural logic and its translation to PL/pgSQL
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning
- Experience with SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and Dynamic Management Views
- Expertise in SQL Server auditing and compliance
- Experience identifying and resolving cross-platform migration issues
- Ability to script and automate administrative tasks using PowerShell or SQLCMD
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) for database hosting and migration
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation
- Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or equivalent ETL frameworks for complex data migration pipelines
