Job Summary
Facilitate academic and interpersonal success for migrant students in grades 6-8 by implementing district-approved curriculum and conducting building-wide supplemental activities. Coordinate outreach to involve families, translate information between Hispanic parents and staff, and act as a home/school consultant. Develop academic, career, and service-learning opportunities while partnering with community organizations to support post-secondary planning. Meet regularly with learners on progress monitoring, individualized education plans, and graduation readiness. Serve as an advisor, liaison, and key communicator for the HRCSD Migrant Education Program, ensuring equitable practices and maintaining updated student records.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills
- Ability to work with student and families with varying educational, social, and economic backgrounds
- Ability to integrate equitable practices district-wide for the purpose of promoting equity in family engagement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed with strong organizational skills
- Willingness to be embedded in the community and longevity to the position
- Initiative for identifying resources within our community for our parents and families
- Ability to collaborate with staff and community organizations to promote enriching opportunities for students
- Ability to maintain updated student records and files and ensure confidentiality of all records
- Ability to provide appropriate and timely information and data when working in a collaborative team
- Possess the equivalent of 72 quarter-credits of college coursework (equivalent to an Associate degree), or have passed the CBEST (California Basic Education Skills Test) or PRAXIS Paraprofessional Assessment
- Pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen
- Complete fingerprinting and pass a nationwide criminal background check
- Bilingual English - Spanish
