Job Summary
Fabricate, repair, and join steel parts using gas metal arc welding techniques while interpreting blueprints and schematics to determine appropriate processes. Inspect completed welds for structural soundness and comply with all safety requirements and protocols. Prepare materials and set up welding devices or robots as needed. Operate forklifts and cranes, utilize hand tools and measuring instruments, and convert between fractions, decimals, and metric/English units. Maintain high-quality output for internal and external customers while supporting safety and quality programs. Requires MIG welder certification, relevant apprenticeship or training, and must pass a background check. Join a team building steel products for trains, construction equipment, and forklifts.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to operate forklift and cranes
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder and bander
- Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper and micrometer
- Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa
- Ability to convert metric to English
- Must pass a MIG welder certification
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training, preferred
