Job Summary
Fabricate custom and standard products from blueprints with high attention to detail, MIG welding 10-to-20-gauge galvanized steel for adapters, curbs, and other components. Conduct visual inspections of welded components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications while spot welding metal components under direct supervision. Communicate with shop manager and engineering on product issues and assist with streamlining methods for production. This hourly non-exempt role starts at $19.50/hour and includes overtime eligibility. Candidates must have one year of MIG welding experience and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Located in Wheeling, WV, this position supports AES's Mechanical Services Division and Misc. Steel manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- Familiar with safe welding practices
- Capable of learning to read fabrication drawings with some instruction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tape measures, diagrams, or assembly instructions
- Capable of welding 10-to-20-gauge galvanized steel
- Must be physically capable of loading fabrication parts onto the weld table
- Capable of blueprint reading and interpretation skills
- Individual must be a self-starter and need minimal guidance on daily task
- Must be quality oriented with strong attention to detail
- Individual must have a working knowledge of MIG welding machines with respect to preventive maintenance and control settings to obtain maximum efficiencies
- Able to move objects weighing up to 75 pounds
- Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Required: 1-year previous MIG welding experience
- Able to work with a positive attitude and in a team setting
- Basic understanding of safety protocols in a manufacturing environment
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred: Trade school or certification in welding
