Job Summary
Prepare, cut, assemble, and weld various metal components and structures using MIG welding equipment. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, patterns, and schematics to ensure accurate fabrication of quality metal products. Set up welding equipment, fixtures, and materials per job specifications, then tack weld, fully weld, grind, and finish components to form complete assemblies. Perform drilling, cutting, tool assembly, and other shop operations as needed. Inspect welds during and after fabrication to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while adhering to all safety protocols and wearing required PPE. Perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment and report or fix minor issues. Shift runs 6:30 to 3:30 Monday through Friday. Starting pay is $20 per hour, based on weld test and interview results. Minimum 612 months of MIG welding experience required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
- Formal MIG welding training or completion of an apprenticeship
- Minimum 612 months of MIG welding experience in a production or fabrication setting
- Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Strong handeye coordination, depth perception, and visual acuity
- Good physical strength and stamina; able to lift up to ~75 lbs, stand for long periods, bend, stoop
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capability
- Strong commitment to safety and proper PPE use at all times
- Shift: 6:30 to 3:30 Monday Thursday Friday 7:00am-11:00am
Desired Qualifications
- AWS certification
- Experience with TIG or stick welding
- Forklift experience/certification
- Ability to mentor junior welders or apprentices
- Prior experience working in structural or architectural metal fabrication
