Job Summary
Guide the welding electrode or gun along the weld line, controlling arc length and movement speed to achieve the specified fusion depth and bead quality. Monitor weld integrity by assessing metal color, sound, and molten puddle size. Maintain strict adherence to safety policies and the JobBoss process while reporting accurate quantities. Read and interpret blueprints, tape measures, and written safety or procedure manuals. Assist other departments as directed and may serve as a line leader to set up lines and check co-worker weld quality. Requires six months of welding experience with three years preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 6 months required in welding
- Ability to perform simple shop math and convert decimals to fractional equivalents
- Ability to read a calibrated tape measure
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Ability to read and interpret documents finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals
Desired Qualifications
- 3 year(s) preferred in welding
- 3 year(s) preferred in reading blueprints
- 3 year(s) preferred in checking weld quality
