Job Summary
Middle & Upper School Substitute Teacher needed on campus in Santa Monica, CA to substitute in general education classrooms across subjects including math, science, Spanish, French, and dance. Credentialed teachers or those with advanced degrees in the discipline with 2+ years of teaching experience in a progressive school environment are preferred. Responsibilities include substituting as needed, following and implementing lesson plans, preparing and delivering constructive reports after each assignment, supervising students during snacks, lunch, library time, and off-site trips, and maintaining timely communication via email/text. Candidates should be organized, flexible, and comfortable using a Mac laptop, Google Docs, Zoom (hosting classes if needed), and other standard office software. Required trainings (to be completed within first 30 days) include Harassment Prevention Training, Workplace Violence Prevention Training, and Mandated Reporter Training. BA/BS degree is required; Master's degree or higher is preferred. 60 lb lifting and daily on-campus mobility are noted as physical demands.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required
- Masters or higher preferred
- 2+ years of teaching or its equivalent
- Credentialed teachers and/or those with advanced degrees in the discipline
- Experience teaching Middle School and Upper School in a progressive school environment
- Knowledge and familiarity with Zoom for hosting classes as needed
- Knowledge of crafting and responding to email and text communications
- Ability to follow and implement a lesson plan
- Ability to write and provide constructive reports after each assignment
- Ability to supervise students on campus (snacks, lunch, library, off-site trips)
- Proficiency with Mac laptop, Google Docs, and word processing software
