Middle School Volleyball Coach

Job Summary

Plan and facilitate engaging, age- and skill-appropriate practices, activities, and athletic experiences for student-athletes in grades 5-8. Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and feedback while helping students develop athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Prioritize student safety and well-being, including appropriate supervision and awareness of individual health needs such as asthma and allergies. Model and demonstrate athletic skills, techniques, and positive sportsmanship as appropriate. Communicate effectively with coaches, supervisors, parents, referees, and school staff to foster a positive community experience. Support event organization by preparing spaces, setting up activities, and managing student attendance procedures. Serve as an Ambassador for Enrollment Management and Development efforts. Starting August 24, 2026, this temporary seasonal role offers a $3,000 stipend for the two-month season.

Required Qualifications

  • experienced in coaching youth sports
  • confident leading groups of student-athletics (Grades 5-8)
  • able to design engaging practices
  • able to develop game strategies
  • able to model outstanding sportsmanship
  • able to support the mission and values of Catherine Cook School
  • able to proactively and reflectively communicate through various platforms the vision, goals, and progress of your work with players and their families
  • able to grow our culture of belonging and wellness through active participation in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and social-emotional learning (SEL) efforts
  • able to serve as an Ambassador for our Enrollment Management and Development efforts
  • able to employ Google and Outlook Applications for individual and team collaboration and communication
  • able to create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where students of varying ages and skill levels can grow
