Job Summary
Teach middle school students with special education needs, design and adapt instructional programs for identified students in a variety of settings, manage case files, direct and train Instructional Assistants, and collaborate with staff to implement data-based, evidence-informed instruction. Responsibilities include developing and implementing IEPs and leading IEP meetings, applying RtI and CCSS standards, and maintaining effective behavior intervention plans through data-driven decision making.
Required Qualifications
- Current Oregon Special Education Teaching License
- Experience with meeting the specialized needs of students with a range of mild to moderate disabilities
- Ability to provide appropriate instruction to students based on diagnosed needs
- Skills in using data to make instructional decisions
- Demonstrated behavior management techniques
- Proficient in developing and implementing effective behavior intervention plans
- Understand and adhere to special education law requirements
- Ability to manage a workload to cover testing, placement, teaching, conferencing, and file management
- Ability to write, implement, and follow up on IEPs for specific students in need of specialized instruction and facilitate IEP meetings
- Knowledge and experience with Response to Intervention (RtI)
- Understanding of Common Core State Standards
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons
- Ability to convey to parents and teachers the students’ learning abilities and needs
- Ability to provide direction and training to instructional assistants who are assigned to assist with student instruction
- Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators
- Possession of or ability to obtain a current First Aid/CPR card.
