Job Summary
Plan, collaborate, and co-teach with regular education teachers in Math, Humanities, and Science to support students' IEP goals. Modify lessons, projects, and tests to meet individual learning needs while monitoring progress toward standards. Provide organizational support and skill development in small-group, pull-out settings. Coordinate meetings with colleagues and parents to discuss student progress. Stay current on disabilities such as ADHD, LD, and depression to serve your caseload effectively. Demonstrate strong communication skills to build rapport with parents, teachers, and administrators while honoring confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Rhode Island Department of Education Certification
- Elementary Grades Special Education Teacher, K-8
- Middle Grades Special Education Teacher, 5-8 OR
- Secondary Grades Special Education Teacher, 6-12
- National background check
- Citizenship, residency or work visa
