Job Summary
Provide instruction to small groups in the resource room under the direction of the Learning Specialist and pull small groups for testing as needed. Extrapolate lesson plans by organizing testing and lesson materials weekly. Push into general education classes to support students based on caseload needs and scheduling. Organize, file, and perform clerical tasks related to the IEP process, including mailing, data entry, and distribution of paperwork. The Academy of Charter Schools is a public PK-12 school of choice in Westminster, Colorado, serving students in grades 6-8 with a mission to help all students grow into college-ready citizens. The role requires a high school diploma, one year of experience with elementary students or learning disabilities, and knowledge of Colorado School Law.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 or more years of work with elementary students, students with learning disabilities, and/or paraprofessional support
- Flexibility, patience, and a love of children
- Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with staff and families
- Demonstrated skill in handling children and adolescents
- Ability to diffuse and manage stressful situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Knowledgeable in Colorado School Law, Authorizer policies, The Academy mission, philosophies, policies and administrative procedures
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Ability manage a small group of students to maximize learning outcomes
- Willingness to collaborate and communicate regularly with teachers across grade levels
- Willingness to be flexible and responsive to student and school needs
- Ability to be present and punctual on a consistent basis
- Basic knowledge of school rules and expectations
- Basic knowledge of appropriate supervision of students
- Basic knowledge of google Apps (calendar, gmail, docs)
- Ability to quickly learn educational software programs
