Job Summary
Middle School Science Teacher responsible for delivering an NGSS-aligned interdisciplinary science curriculum, including climate and Earth’s systems, matter and energy, electricity and magnetism, and ecological systems. You’ll foster inquiry-based learning, develop students’ questioning and data-analysis practices, conduct interactive labs, differentiate instruction, and build positive relationships with students and families. Expect weekly meetings with a principal or instructional coach, collaboration with grade-level teams to set goals and instructional strategies, and participation in ongoing professional development and coaching. A bachelor's degree is required, with NY certification eligibility (teacher prep enrollment and maintaining a 2.5+ GPA if not already in teaching), and certification in NY within a reasonable period after starting. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- New York state certification eligibility required (must enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher if not already educated in teaching)
- Ability to meet NY certification within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development
- Enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students
- Self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes
- 1-2 years experience in impacting K-12 urban students (preferred)
- Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields of study
