Job Summary
Middle School Science teachers work in grade-level teams to deliver an NGSS-aligned interdisciplinary science curriculum, covering topics such as climate and Earth’s systems, the cosmos, matter and energy transformations, electricity and magnetism, and ecological systems. Responsibilities include developing students’ inquiry-based questioning and data analysis, differentiating instruction for diverse learners, conducting interactive labs, meeting weekly with leadership to analyze student work, building positive relationships with students and families, and participating in ongoing professional development, mentorship, and school-wide collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- NJ state certification eligibility requirements (a final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if you graduated prior to 9/1/16)
- Teacher certification is not a prerequisite for consideration in NJ, but you must meet NJ certification eligibility requirements and become certified within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- Prior experience: 1-2 years preferred in urban K-12 settings
- Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields
- All instructional staff are required to become certified in New Jersey
