Job Summary
Middle School Science Teacher role teaching an NGSS-aligned interdisciplinary science curriculum in urban middle schools. Responsibilities include developing inquiry-based lessons on topics such as climate and Earth’s systems, matter and energy transformations, electricity and magnetism, and ecological systems; fostering student discourse; differentiating instruction; analyzing student work with the principal/ instructional coach; building positive relationships with students and families; participating in weekly school-wide meetings, professional development, and mentorship to support student achievement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- NY state certification eligibility requirements (certification not required to be hired; enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if you do not have a degree in education)
- Certification is required to be certified in New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- 1-2 years experience in teaching or demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 urban students
