Job Summary
Prepare students for scientific inquiry and experimentation while ensuring safety protocols are followed in laboratory settings. Utilize diverse instructional strategies to enhance student engagement and develop comprehensive lesson plans that meet curriculum standards. Assess student progress through tests, quizzes, projects, and hands-on experiments, then collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in professional development. Maintain a safe, positive environment for all students and communicate effectively with parents and staff. This role supports Detroit Community Schools' mission to prepare students for life after K-12 through rigorous curriculum and extracurricular activities.
Required Qualifications
- Michigan Teacher Certification and endorsement in the subject/grade level
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject
- Regular and predictable attendance
