Job Summary
Plan a program of study appropriate to student maturity and individual needs. Create a positive classroom environment that upholds school rules and supports learning. Guide the learning process to increase student achievement in accordance with curriculum and state standards. Employ instructional methods and materials that meet stated objectives. Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports. Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress. Work with specialists to determine special learning needs. Demonstrate excellent communication skills with colleagues, students, and parents, including parent teacher conferences. Integrate technology skills to support content areas and 21st Century Learning. This ten-month position supports the school's goal of fostering personal growth and effective rapport with pupils.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assignment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with colleagues/students/parents/community, including parent teacher conferences
- Classroom management/instructional strategies to support student achievement
- Technology skills to support the content area(s) and 21st Century Learning
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Knowledge of subject areas, curriculum, and standards-based education
- Knowledge of the general organization and functions of a public school system
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- A valid Colorado Teaching Certificate endorsed in area of assignment
- Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may find appropriate
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
- Ability to lift 10 pounds on a frequent basis
- Ability to stoop, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching and fine motor activity
- Ability to frequently sit, standing, walking, balancing, reaching at desk and floor level
- Ability to firm and simple grasping
- Ability to constantly see, hear, and talk
- Ten-month position commitment
- Adherence to Board of Education policies, state rules and regulations, and licensure standards
- Maintenance and improvement of professional competence
- Service on staff committees as required
